Syracuse Area Health (SAH) is an award-winning, 10-bed Critical Access Hospital and designated
Level IV Trauma Center serving Southeast Nebraska. The organization provides a full continuum
of care, including surgical services, specialty clinic, rehabilitation, laboratory services, and
advanced imaging such as CT and MRI.

SAH operates three family medicine clinics: one located on the main hospital campus, a second
north of Weeping Water featuring an attached retail pharmacy, and a third in Hickman under
its outreach division, Sagewell.

As part of its continued growth, SAH has expanded its Sagewell brand across the region.
Following the rebranding of Strasburger Orthopaedics to Sagewell Orthopaedics in 2025, the
organization now offers Sagewell Urgent Care and Orthopaedics in Lincoln (opened 2025), as
well as Sagewell Family Medicine and Aesthetics in Hickman (opened 2026). These additions
reflect SAH’s commitment to increasing access to convenient, exceptional care that supports
growing communities.

A consistent focus on clinical excellence, patient experience, and employee engagement has
earned SAH national recognition. The organization was named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital
for Patient Satisfaction in the United States by the National Rural Health Association for three
consecutive years (2022–2024). Huron named SAH its 2024 Excellence in Healthcare award

The Good Samaritan Society – Syracuse offers a variety of services for both short-term and long-term circumstances.  GSS-Syracuse is a licensed skilled nursing facility with professional nursing staff 24 hours per day.  All admissions are on a 24 hour / 7 day a week availability.

Long-term skilled nursing care is available for those who are unable to live independently and require assistance in fulfilling daily living needs. A person centered care plan is prepared and regularly reviewed for each resident, ensuring each individual’s needs and desires are met.

Short-term / Post-Acute Rehabilitation Services at the Good Samaritan Society are for people of all ages who no longer need hospital care, but would benefit from additional therapy and care before returning home following injury, illness or surgery.  There are 7 Post-Acute Rehab Rooms available for these admissions.  The rooms are furnished with bed, dresser, overstuffed recliner, flat screen TV, private bathroom and home like décor.  Our Medicare-certified post-acute rehab programs feature therapy gyms and include physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Other Services Offered:  Inpatient / Outpatient Therapy, Home Health, Respite Care, Hospice, Adult Daycare, Specialized Care Plans for each resident.
