Omaha Public Power District is a publicly owned electric utility that serves a population of 770,500 people, more than any other electric utility in the state. Founded in 1946 as a public entity, the business-managed utility is governed by an elected board of eight directors. While its headquarters is located in Omaha, Neb., OPPD has several other locations in its 13-county, 5,000-squaremile service area in southeast Nebraska.
The majority of OPPD’s power comes from two baseload power plants: North Omaha Station and Nebraska City Station, both coal-fired plants. Additional energy comes from three peaking plants and renewable energy resources, including a landfill-gas plant and wind turbines.

After a few years of operating out of these three locations, the holding company purchased Byron State Bank in Byron, NE and merged into Western National Bank on July 1, 2017.
Exactly 4 years later on July 1, 2021, Mainstreet Bank was purchased, expanding Western National Bank into a total of 11 communities throughout Nebraska and Kansas including (in alphabetical order):

A legacy built with purpose.
For over a century, Thrivent has been helping people build their financial futures and live more generous lives. We started out back in 1902, providing much-needed insurance contracts to our Lutheran community. The Christian values that steered us then — generosity and appreciation for what’s important in life — are the same values that compel us in 2020.
Today, we’re a Fortune 500 company, offering a full range of expert financial solutions, including advice, investments, insurance, banking and generosity programs. We serve over 2 million clients, as well as the communities in which they live and work.
How We’re Different
At Thrivent, we believe money is a tool, not a goal. Driven by a higher purpose at our core, we are committed to providing financial advice, investments, insurance, banking, and generosity programs to help people make the most of all they’ve been given.
At our heart, we are a membership-owned fraternal organization, as well as a holistic financial services organization, dedicated to serving the unique needs of our clients. We focus on their goals and priorities, guiding them towards financial choices that will help them live the life they want today – and tomorrow.
We’re reaching more people.
We’ve always held the belief that humanity thrives when people make the most of all they’ve been given. To ensure we can continue to inspire generations to make financial choices guided by their Christian values, we’re supporting our current clients – and opening our doors to new ones. And we’re meeting their needs in more ways than ever before. Because when more people make the most of all they’ve been given, our impact amplifies.
We put our clients first
We start with you, and your needs. That’s been our philosophy, and it continues today. As a membership-owned organization, we answer to our clients – never to shareholders on Wall Street. By operating this way, we build relationships based on transparency and trust.

There are several licensed daycare providers in the Syracuse area. Since we are a growing community of young families, childcare is in high demand. It is a good idea to start contacting childcare providers about availability as soon as you know you are expecting!
