Get your fill of fresh-made pancakes, along with some German breakfast options such as knipp sausage! Come and enjoy this free-will donation meal served by St. Paulinus Catholic Church. Proceeds to benefit the church.

GermanFest 5K & Kids Fun Run

Guten tag! It’s time to sign up for the annual GermanFest Fun Run 5K and kids 1 mile! This race is a TRUE fun run with stations along the way to show off your German spirit! Feel free to run hard, jog, or walk the whole way in your Lederhosen! We will have a 1 mile kids run around Williams Park, and then the 5k will follow a route through town that does not cross the railroad tracks. Bring the whole family and let the GermanFest Fun Run start your celebration day of German heritage in Syracuse, Nebraska! Check out the days events at GermanFestNE.com

*Proceeds to benefit the Community Food Bank Backpack Program.  The Backpack Program provides weekend meals for local families in need.

Huge event-wide beer garden featuring a nice selection of German and domestic beers, seltzers, and other popular beverages! Relax and enjoy a drink while you soak in everything GermanFest has to offer! NOTE: After 8:00 p.m., alcohol will only be allowed in the area where bands are playing (the traditional fair beer garden).

Use your nose and you’ll find the people making smokin’ good ribs! RibFest competitors will start setting up their smokers early and be cooking from 9:00 a.m. throughout the day! In its 20th year, this fun rib smokin’ tradition has gotten pretty darn competitive. Come check it out!

Register by August 15th to participate in the RibFest competition – see additional information and registration form below.

Car show check-in is from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. No advance registration is required.

Participate in the Grand Parade – must be registered by 10:00 a.m. to participate in the parade at 11:00 a.m.

Cars on display from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Show awards will be announced at 3:00 p.m.

**No Entry Fee. Must pay GermanFest event admission at the gate – $5-10/person depending on age.

Location: 3rd Street between Midland & Plum Streets

All children welcome – just show up to participate! Thank you to Kristen Walters for agreeing to coordinate this part of GermanFest.

Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. at 5th & Plum Streets (across the street from Granneman Agency on the West side).  Kinder Parade begins at 10:30 a.m.

No pre-registration is required to take part in the parade! Just show up at the start location (5th & Plum Streets) and volunteers will get you organized into your place in the parade.

Our 2021 Kinder Parade theme is THE OLYMPICS. Feel free to show your USA pride by dressing as your favorite Olympian or decorating your bike, tricycle, wagon, battery-powered car! The theme is just for added fun… all children are welcome in the Kinder Parade, regardless of whether or not your bike is decorated.

Location: Begins @ 5th & Plum Streets — Ends at 5th & Midland Streets

The Grand Parade will happen in downtown Syracuse. It will feature GermanFest Royalty, parade floats, show cars, the Shriners, fire trucks, ambulances, tractors, and more! Bring your lawn chairs, a blanket, or just find a spot along the curb to cop-a-squat – kick back to enjoy the parade!

Be sure to check out what our local Chamber businesses have to offer while you’re downtown for the parade.

The Grand Parade will end at GermanFest Headquarters, the Otoe County Fairgrounds. Join us there for food vendors offering many delicious lunch options, shopping at Market Platz, Husker football, kids activities, and more throughout the day!

Come down to the Otoe County Fairgrounds after the parade to enjoy a German lunch at the Fair Center or check out one of our onsite food trucks! German food will be served until 5 pm. Ribfest starts at 6:30 pm in the park. Food trucks will be available all day long.

Bring your friends, grab some beers and come cheer on the Huskers in their season opener against Illinois!

Watch Husker Football with us on our three outdoor big-screen televisions! The kick-off is at 12:00 p.m., pre-game will be on by 11:00 a.m.

A huge supply of ice-cold beer will be just steps away! Lawn chairs welcome. Shade within the covered shelter, some picnic tables provided, and plenty of space for lawn chairs.

Little Tuggers is a family fun pedal tractor pull for kids ages 4-12.

Kids must register at 1:00 p.m. to participate in the 1:30 p.m. competition! Parent or guardian must be on-site to sign a waiver prior to the competition.

Location: Near the corner of 3rd & Midland Streets

KinderFun features games for younger children. There’s no cost to play and kids have a chance to win some prizes!

The inflatables at GermanFest will feature a 20 ft. water slide, sports games & bounce houses for kids! Remember to bring a dry change of clothes for kids who will want to cool off on the water slide. Age limits do apply – TBA. Participation is free with paid gate admission.

GermanFest is the perfect place to sample wine and sangria crafted at one of our local vineyards, Rich Harvest Winery! Start with a tasting and then enjoy your favorites by the glass. Come join us for an entertaining afternoon in the park. Lawn chairs welcome! Picnic tables provided.

The Otoe County Museum will be open to the public from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 8/28, and 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, 8/29. Stop by to check out some of the cool antique treasures that are a part of Otoe County’s history! Their displays are sure to impress.

Little Tuggers is a family fun pedal tractor pull for kids ages 4-12.

Kids must register at 1:00 p.m. to participate in the 1:30 p.m. competition! Parent or guardian must be on-site to sign a waiver prior to the competition.

Come join us for a good, old-fashioned watermelon feed. It’s yummy and it’s free!

The 2021 GermanFest Burgermeister will be Tapping the Fest Keg in honor of the Goering Family Royalty. Join past and present GermanFest Royalty for this fun, time-honored German tradition, and enjoy a beer on us!

*Wristband required. Must be 21.

You won’t want to miss the 12th Annual ‘Viener’ Dog Races! Perhaps one of the most unique GermanFest activities, this is definitely a fan favorite for people of all ages. Dachshund dog owners have a blast cheering for their beloved four-legged friends, and people come from near and far to see what transpires. Our GermanFest Viener Dog Races are not your typical entertainment – be prepared to enjoy lots of good belly laughs, and maybe a few tears of joy!

*Registrations received by August 18 will receive a complimentary GermanFest T-shirt. Participants also register day of thee event by 1:30 p.m. – see entry form below!

Location: Otoe County Fairgrounds, under the shade trees just East of the kids playground equipment!

Try your hand at this long-standing German game involving hammers, nails, stumps, and lots of laughs! More details about how you must play the game will be revealed to the participants on the day of the event. People of all ages will enjoy watching the Hammerschlagen competition.

*Participants must be age 18 or older. Just sign-up on-site, the day of the event.

Prizes for both men and women! So round up your favorite German dress or lederhosen and compete for the Best Dressed “Hans & Anna.”

Come enjoy mouth-watering ribs that will be slow-cooked and smoked to perfection! Ribs with all the fixings prepared by Orchard Hill BBQ for this Syracuse Area Chamber fundraiser meal. A huge THANK YOU to Dan Masters of Orchard Hill BBQ for donating his time to smoke the ribs and make side dishes for us!

Arrive at RibFest early because these are some sought-after ribs! We won’t start serving until 6:00 p.m., but when then they’re gone… they’re gone. Additional food truck eats will be available onsite. Picnic tables on-site. Lawn chairs welcome.

Gate admission is required for entry. Cost of the meal TBD.

Location: Open-air food shack that’s centrally located in the South Park on the Otoe County Fairgrounds.

Come join us for a mix of country, rock, and funk music under the stars! Chad Lee and 4 on The Floor Omaha will each have their own stage, playing back-to-back tunes that won’t stop from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. This outdoor concert will take place in the center of the Beer Garden, just north of the arena. Free with paid gate admission to GermanFest.

We’ll have a nice selection of German and domestic beers, seltzers, and other popular beverages to enjoy while you listen to these talented musicians!

Picnic tables provided. Feel free to bring your lawn chairs or dance to your heart’s content, right in front of the stage! Plan to come early and stay late because we’re sure you’ll have a blast at this concert under the stars!

Come experience a community-wide celebration of faith as our Syracuse Ministerial Committee leads us in a Christian-based worship service. All are welcome!

Location: Fair Center

The Burgermeister Open Golf Tourney is a 3-person Staggered Scramble tourney. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome! See how your game improves with 10-foot of string and enjoy flag prizes at the end of the day! Payback and flights based on the number of entries.

Registration starts @ 11:30 a.m., followed by a 12:00 NOON shotgun start.

Entry Fee: $150 per 3-person team

Includes 18 holes of golf, one free 6-pack of beer per team, 10-foot of string – to help your score, meal, prizes, and fun!
