Safehouse Winery

Brian & Ranelle Rundquist started planting grapevines near Sterling, Nebraska in 2004. Wine has been made at their home from those grapes since 2007. As the harvests began getting larger and larger, their winemaking hobby became too large for their house! When planning the winery, they came across the “Bank of Syracuse” building and loved the history and character of it. Most visitors commented on the old, original safe that still resides in the building. They decided to name the winery after the safe, and decorated the space with mostly late 19th century period pieces and bank related items. The renovation was finished early in 2016, and the winery opened its doors to the public that spring.
